Blank Gameweek 31! Who to keep, Who to Sell!

In partnership with

Hello everyone! The first blank gameweek of the season has arrived, with Arsenal and Wolves definitely blanking, and Man City and Palace having a 90% chance of blanking (more on that in the “in other news” section) - so plenty to discuss. Let’s do it!

Gameweek Fixtures

Changing 5 questions into the key question of the week.
How much to target Gameweek 31 versus having more flexibility for Gameweek 32 once the doubles and blanks hopefully are confirmed.

So the first thing is please scroll down to in other news to see where we have mentioned the SMALL chance of Manchester City playing in Gameweek 31 after all against Crystal Palace.

For me this week, there are only a handful of players worth charging into that are worth it compared to hamper your long term flexibility.

  1. Bruno Fernandes and that is probably it.

  2. Add the caveat that if you do not have 11 players out then yes others can be included as you want to have 11 players.

So basically, if you have 11 players and you own Bruno, I would rather roll than go steaming into a more exciting Gameweek 31 picks.

If you are looking to Free Hit in Gameweek 31 this is what a draft could look like.
Personally I would recommend saving it for a 33 double or 34 blank as it will likely be more powerful there.

So a green arrow in 30 rolling my transfer is always nice and now up to 5 transfers.

It is purely around short term gain versus long term gain for me this week.

I think my team is fine this week. I would love to improve on the double Everton against Chelsea. However, is there anyone I can really buy that also benefits me long term given I have not locked into a Gameweek 32 wildcard.

So firstly. If Tarkowski is going to be ok, I just think I will roll. All the information to be gained between Gameweek 31 and 32 with the cup results, blanks and doubles means I do not think it is worth a move.

However, if Tarkowski is out, it becomes a bit more confusing.

  1. Something I could do if Tarkowski is a doubt is to sell Richards to someone like Rodon or Hill to add a bit of depth.

  2. Tarkowski out most likely to Thiaw.

  3. The above two moves would give me more money in the bank to upgrade Dewsbury-Hall to someone like Tavernier or maybe even Dango if I wanted to.

So I am hoping to roll. If Tarkowski is out I will likely make one move but it could tempt me into a second move elsewhere.

I do not think I will sell Haaland despite being bad and blanking in 31 just incase I do not wildcard 32 and Man City could double soon after.

Hello everyone! With only 8 gameweeks left, and approximately 50 points to the top 100k, this is crunch time for me now. I can’t really afford to have any bad gameweeks, and every week I need to be gaining ground.

That being said, with only 1 FT and a full XI for Gameweek 31, there is some temptation to roll the transfer, so that I have 2 FTs to respond to the information we get after the FA cup games. I still plan on attempting an alternative strategy of FH33, WC35, but that really does require Liverpool to lose to Man City in the FA cup.

I think the only way I make a transfer this week is if someone becomes a major doubt, or I believe there is a transfer which carries enough upside to justify using it. Here are my 4 options at the moment:

  1. Roll

  2. KroupiDCL

  3. GarnerWilson

  4. MunozVdB/Tete/Alderete

The only move there which screams high upside to me is Garner to Wilson, so I just need to work out how willing I am to go without Wilson for BUR (H), and if I am not, it might be time to finally say goodbye to Garner.

The last couple of gameweeks have been absolutely terrible with two big red arrows 😆 I’m hoping Mukiele is back for the Newcastle game, although it’s a bad fixture I’d like to roll and hopefully get more from the transfer later. If he’s a major doubt or out then I’ll likely do:

O’Reilly → Tete

And go double Fulham defence home to Burnley.

Harry’s top 3 Captaincy choices this week!

  1. Fernandes vs BOU (a)

Just so consistent. Particularly at home and Bournemouth have 3 0-0 draws in the last 4 but it is difficult to back against Bruno this week with a lack of other options.

  2. Wilson vs BUR (H)

2nd is Wilson against Burnley. If you want to go against Bruno you will be wanting to find the best fixture which is probably Fulham and their most in form attacker is Wilson.

  3. Ekitike vs BHA (a)
3rd is Ekitike. Despite a benching in Gameweek 30 i still would back Ekitike to do well against Brighton who have shown pretty mixed form this season.

As briefly mentioned at the start of the newsletter, there is still a very small chance that Man City vs Palace is played in Gameweek 31, if BOTH teams are knocked out of Europe this week. The reason for this, is that the game can be scheduled for week commencing 6th April, which is technically still before the start of Gameweek 32. The Premier League confirmed this in an article a few days ago, stating:

“It's worth noting that, subject to European results, there is a possibility that Man City v Crystal Palace could be rescheduled and remain in Gameweek 31.”

However, even if both Man City and Palace are knocked out, there is no guarantee that the Premier League decide to exercise that option, and they may still choose to place it in another gameweek later in the season.

Importantly, do not make early transfers this week as a result, wait until Friday where we should have confirmation either way.
