Why no one should be making early transfers until at least the FA Cup draw is done on Monday evening…

Just incase people were not aware, this week and GW32 are the two biggest weeks for absolutely not making any early transfers. No exceptions really. The information to be gained over the FA Cup weekend could massively change what we do even if you feel 100% set on a Wildcard 32 Bench boost 33 strategy, let me tell you that definitely could change.

The Fa Cup could massively shake up the rest of the FPL season.

  1. The first thing to mention is around the Manchester City and Crystal Palace blank in Gameweek 31. If Man City lose to Newcastle then MCI vs CRY might not be a blank in Gameweek 31. It could be played in the FA Cup weekend between Gameweek 31 and 32.

    1. As a reminder this is because between Gameweek 31 and Gameweek 32, there is of course the Gameweek 31 weekend, then an internaitonal break, then we come back and go straight into an FA Cup weekend before the Premier League returns for Gameweek 32, technically 3 weeks after Gameweek 31!

    2. The impact of this would be those of us who do not own Semenyo or O’Reilly would be looking to buy them and of course Haaland, Munoz etc would not need to be sold ahead of the blank Gameweek 31.

  2. If Cup results and then QF draw fall a certain way, we might decide not to WC32 and who is predicted to double and blank could change completely.

    1. This will be if teams we already have investment in, like Brentford & Fulham, who are currently not predicted do double & blank, get a good draw and so change predictions meaning we do not need to wildcard in order to set up the bench boost.

So all of this will become clearer on Monday evening when the FA Cup draw has happened. Until then. We wait.

So my plans depend really on Manchester City in the FA Cup. If Manchester City do lose to Newcastle I do believe that they will no longer blank in Gameweek 31 although it is not guaranteed.

In that example I will be looking at buying Manchester City players if it gets confirmed.

Tarkowski —> O’Reilly
Mbeumo —> Semenyo

Are the two transfers I would consider. However, with the West Ham game in Gameweek 30 for Manchester City being in between a quick turn around against Real Madrid I am not certain who starts even with it being a very close title race. I would need to take that judgement closer to the Gameweek 31 deadline.

If Manchester City do beat Newcastle or there is no sign of them playing in Gameweek 31 then I will likely just roll again.

Gameweek 29 went about as well as the rest of the season. Despite a Garner 10 pointer and Bruno outscoring Haaland as my captain, it looks set to be a red arrow unless Munoz gets 14+ points. I am also writing this after Man Utd lost to Newcastle, so all-round an enjoyable set of mid-week games!

Moving on to Gameweek 30, I am probably going to sell Garner and leave it there. Of course, I will be waiting for the FA cup results. In terms of Garner replacements, I am looking at:

  • Tavernier

  • Anderson

  • Rayan

  • Wilson

  • Szoboszlai

  • Gibbs-White

  • Gordon

Most likely, it will be Garner to Tavernier to target the Burnley game in GW30. But, lots of time before I need to commit to that decision. Enjoy the break everyone!

Well GW28 was the worst gameweek of the season by a country mile with basically everyone blanking besides Arsenal’s clean sheet. That all said I’m probably going to roll again 😆 looking to buy Wilson and replace Haaland in GW31, maybe spend the third transfer too.
