FPL Wrapped - Our Gameweek 28 Teams

Here's our FPL Teams and Plans for Gameweek 28

In partnership with

Hello everyone! It feels like we say this every week, but for most people Gameweek 27 was another very underwhelming gameweek. Surely it can’t go on like this, can it? (Oh it can…)

Reminder: Friday evening deadline!

Gameweek Fixtures

  1. Wilson, Dango, Tavernier, Rayan or another?

I do think Anderson is worth a look with his more attacking positioning. However, I think Wilson feels the most sensible pick with 3 of the next 4 at home.

  2. Sell Arsenal Defence?

I think Raya and Timber are disposable for sure yes. Gabriel I would still keep as they remain the best defence for xGC.

  3. Keep faith in Ekitike?

It has been painful. 4 big chances in 3 weeks, all missed meaning he is the biggest xG underperformer over this time. I would be keeping.

  4. Is Van Dijk essential?

No. However, he is expected to be the highest scoring defender in the game over the next 4 weeks.

  5. James Hill… The best defender under Van Dijk?

To be honest. Yes. The only other one is Andersen who has 3 of the next 4 at home and some good games but Hill looks very solid.

A red arrow… SO FAR! Bruno, Mbeumo, Dewsbury-Hall still to play…

Basically, Dewsbury-Hall and Mbeumo need to combine for 12+ points to turn this red arrow into a green one… Wish me luck!

I rolled my transfer in the end last week which actually turned out to be the right decision with Wirtz missing out completely whilst Dango and Rayan also blanked. So good decisions made just bad points from the rest of the players!

Ekitike the biggest xG underperformer over the last 3 weeks…
4 big chances… 0 goals.

Anyway enough complaining! On to GW28...

So the plan is to make two or three transfers to buy a defender and a midfielder at a minimum and then potentially a 3rd transfer for a new goalkeeper, defender or another midfielder.

The original plan was to do Rice to Wirtz and Sacrifice Tarkowski to afford it. However, I now think one of the cheap midfielders, most likely Wilson could get close enough to the likes of Wirtz or Szoboszlai to make it worth while.

This would be…
Rice to Wilson & Dorgu to Van Dijk.
I have also considered Richards to Hill. However, Hill only really is of use to me this week if I also buy Van Dijk so it does not feel worth it.

Hello everyone! Gameweek 27 hasn’t been too bad for me. Currently only sat on a small red arrow thanks to some returns from Verbruggen and Munoz, and I still have 3 players left to play with Garner, Mbeumo, and Fernandes. Hopeful that I will end the week on a much needed green arrow!

Looking ahead to Gameweek 28, I will almost definitely be using both free transfers available to me. The 4 players I am happy to sell are Timber, Enzo, Rice, and Kroupi. Given there aren’t many forwards I can move to at a cheap price, I think this leaves me with selling 2 from Timber, Enzo and Rice. Here is my current watchlist:

  • DEFs: Hill, van den Berg, Senesi, Van Dijk

  • MIDs: Tavernier, Rayan, Dango, Wilson, Szoboszlai, Schade, Rogers, Wirtz.

I really like the idea of making two midfield transfers, but I would probably say Rice is a stronger asset than Timber.

Assuming Wirtz is fit, I think selling Enzo to Wirtz is likely going to be one of my free transfers. The other free transfer will then be one of:

  1. TimberVan Dijk

  2. RiceDango/Rayan/Wilso

A long week ahead, but I will update you later this week in the Thursday premium newsletter!

The last couple of gameweeks have been astonishing, very lucky to have owned Van Dijk and O’Reilly who have back to back double digit returns. I’ll be starting the two of them and Gabriel every week until GW31.

I’ve got 2 free transfers with a lot of options on the table:

Enzo → Wilson/Dango

I could also spend the second transfer on:

Rice → Wirtz/Schade

It will depend on whether Wirtz is available given he had to pull out injured before the Forest game. I’m not opposed to keeping Rice for CHE (H) which should have good defcon potential and he’s always got potential for a goal involvement. Captaincy is actually really tight, I may lean towards Bruno (H) but need to sit on that one! I’m sure Haaland will be the favourite, but if Lacroix is out for Palace again that could nudge me that way.

Chip strategy is currently:

Dead end GW31
WC32
BB33
FH34

Good luck and thanks for reading!

Harry’s top 3 Captaincy choices this week!

  1. HAALAND vs LEE (A)

1st this week is Haaland. However, it could actually be a good week to consider going against him. He will always be the safe reliable captain with 0 blanks in the last 4 but he also has just 1 double digit return since the popular triple captain week of Gameweek 17 vs WHU (H)

  2. BRUNO FERNANDES vs CRY (H)

2nd is Bruno Fernandes. Now let’s see how he gets on today. Crystal Palace play Thursday in a must win game in Europe and Bruno has been offering consistent although not explosive returns since starting his new role in midfield.

  3. THIAGO vs BUR (A)

3rd is Thiago. Despite no open play goals since he scored 5 goals in 2 games in Gameweeks 20 and 21, He has over 0.3 xG in all of his last 4 starts and over 0.7 xG in 2 of those. It is also down to the fixture against Burnley, 20th for xGC this season and 18th over the last 6.

Not on WC32? Liverpool, Brentford, Aston Villa and Newcastle actually look the best teams to buy long term.

Wildcard 32? Fulham, Bournemouth, Liverpool and Brentford have the best short term fixtures to target.

This team is currently 124th in the WORLD (including auto-subs), and they haven’t touched their team all season, set & forget. No transfers, no chips, no captain or starting 11 changes. Why do we bother? 😂

What is OfficialFPL’s plan is someone wins with a set & forget team?!

This feels like a good week to use transfers, be aggressive, and then potentially consider stacking a couple of free transfers in Gameweek 29 and Gameweek 30, to be able to deal with the Blank Gameweek 31. Good luck for the week ahead!
