1. Sell Rice now?

   I actually do think so. He can absolutely tick along as he has done but there are a lot of other mids I prefer now the double is done.

2. Consider Salah?
   Yes… However, if Haaland is ok I would not be selling him and both is not easy but I think its worth a consideration.

3. Too late to buy Chelsea?

   Despite it being Burnley at home this week, If you have not bought already now it might be too late with the fixtures turning.

4. Keep Ekitike for his price?

   Yes. If you have held the upcoming fixtures look good especially with a well earnt rest in the Fa Cup.

5. Van Dijk a buy?

   Buying after a haul is always tough given you have missed but but up until a gameweek 32 wildcard he looks great.

So a disappointing Gameweek 26 so far with three to play including triple captain sees me fall to 200K.

2 transfers, still plan to wildcard in 32 so this means I am looking for players for the next 5 Gameweeks.

Despite being disappointing, the fixtures for both Liverpool and Brentford mean I will almost certainly be keeping Ekitike and Thiago for that time and if Haaland is available he will also then stay so likely no forward transfers.

Midfield is where I am focusing. Dewsbury-Hall (for the fixtures), Anderson (for lack of explosiveness) and Rice (lack of returns and blanking in 31) are all on the chopping block.

The options I like are Wirtz, Rogers, Wilson, Dango and Rayan mainly.

The most likely scenario is Tarkowski, Anderson & Rice go over the next two weeks to Wirtz, a cheap defender like Hill and one of those 3 cheaper midfielders in Wilson, Dango and Rayan with Dango being my favoured currently.

However, the other opportunity, is to back against Wirtz.

This would then lead something like Anderson and Rice to two of those cheaper midfielders like Rayan and Dango and Tarkowski could then stay at a premium price or even upgrade Dorgu to Van Dijk.

This would give me better depth and I do have Ekitike for Liverpool already but I do think Wirtz has great potential.

I think I have finally accepted that this is not going to be my season, but I will not go down without a fight, and all you need is a few good gameweeks in a row to turn it around.

I am actually relatively happy with how the team currently looks, but the midfield stands out as needing 2-3 transfers across the coming gameweeks to get it into a stronger position.

As of right now, I have 4 possible options with my transfers:

1. Roll the transfer

2. Rice → Wirtz/Rogers

3. Garner → Dango/Rayan

4. Kroupi → Strand Larsen

Option 1 is honestly quite possible, as I don’t think Options 2 or 3 are huge upgrades for Gameweek 27, and with Option 4 it is using at least one (if not two) additional transfers by buying JSL and then having to sell him in Gameweek 31 as well. I may choose to sell Kroupi anyway, but if he is starting at that point, I could keep him. JSL would have to be sold.

If I were to rank the likelihood of the options, I would say:

1 > 3 > 2 > 4, but I think all of them are highly plausible and may depend on how the Arsenal game goes on Wednesday as well.

Last gameweek was completely carried by two players, O’Reilly and Van Dijk. Both scoring and keeping a clean sheet was very lucky. I very very nearly started Mukiele and ended up going through ever page on the Man City forums to get a feel on O’Reilly’s minutes, I was just hoping for the start!

Pep has changed the system recently, which has O’Reilly playing out of position as an 8, he was on the chopping block but now I’m actually wondering if he should be starting again. Huge benching headache this week between my defenders.

Can I bench O'Reilly playing as an 8?
Can I bench Mukiele given how good he's been?
Can I bench Andersen with good clean sheet odds + defcon?!
Can I bench VVD after a 17 pointer?!

I might have chopped things around by the time we get to Thursday’s newsletter (subscribe 😉). Newcastle have to play in CL play-offs as well away vs Qarabag which is another minor factor in O’Reilly’s favour. Mukiele has been so good for me though, and benching him in a home fixture is not comfortable, Xhaka has been a big miss though.

In terms of transfer plans it will be a roll this week, even if Haaland is ruled out I’ll roll and hope to have him back in GW28. If he’s available then he’s my captain.

This poor lad is on 24 points, with Gabriel and Rice to play still. When it rains, it pours. 😭
