FPL Wrapped - Our Gameweek 25 Teams

Here's our FPL Teams for FPL Gameweek 25

Hello everyone! GW25 should be a very interesting gameweek. We will know going into the deadline exactly which teams will be doubling in GW26, which teams will be blanking in GW31, and a bit more information about the doubles in GW33. It feels like strategy and planning begins now, so let’s jump into it!

Gameweek 25 Fixtures

(Explanation from Ross, hopefully it all makes sense!)

On Tuesday and Wednesday this week, we will get confirmed information on DGW26, BGW31 and a bit on DGW33 as well. Here is everything you need to know.

The EFL cup final is played at the same time as Gameweek 31. Therefore, the teams that reach the EFL Cup Final (and their opponents in GW31), will blank. This gives us a confirmed Blank Gameweek 31 for four teams.

Whichever team from Arsenal or Chelsea that reach the EFL cup final, will have their Gameweek 31 fixture re-scheduled into Gameweek 26, causing a double gameweek. This means Double Gameweek 26 will be either Arsenal & Wolves OR Chelsea & Everton. See below the lovely graphic from Harry:

Now, regardless of who reaches the final from Man City and Newcastle, neither of them can double in Gameweek 26, because Gameweek 26 midweek is when the European qualifiers take place, and both Newcastle and Palace (Man City’s opponents in GW31) will be taking part in the qualifiers as they failed to finish in the top 8 in their respective European competitions. Instead, their Gameweek 31 fixture will likely be moved to Double Gameweek 33.

Therefore, all eyes on Tuesday and Wednesday evening to see what DGW26 and BGW31 will look like. The games are played at the following times (UK time):

  • Arsenal vs. Chelsea (3-2 agg.) - Tuesday 8pm

  • Man City vs. Newcastle (2-0 agg.) - Wednesday 8pm

  1. Who is the best Saka Replacement?

If Arsenal doubles it should be Rice, if Chelsea double it should be Enzo. Outside of that Wirtz, Cunha or Mbeumo all look good.

  2. Sell Thiago to Joao Pedro?

Personally I would only do this if Chelsea double (info above!)

  3. Is Triple Arsenal defence possible?

Yes absolutely it is. If they double great, if they do not double also fine to cover the blank.

  4. Are Liverpool getting better?

Liverpool are 1st for xGC over the last 6 making them now 3rd of the season. they are 5th for the season for xG and are starting to look better 100%. Wait until after Man City.

  5. Should we consider selling Haaland?

Not for me. After Liverpool the run of games looks great and we do not need the money for anything else yet.

Hi all! No official rank or points just yet as the gameweek is still ongoing.

So of course, the first thing is to wait for confirmation of who is going to double in Gameweek 26 once Arsenal play Chelsea tomorrow.

I also need a Saka update although this might just be enough of an excuse to get rid of him anyway!

So my options are quite broad dependent on who wins but also Saka’s availability.

If Saka is out and Arsenal win… I will likely downgrade Saka to a midfielder like Wirtz, Semenyo, Cunha, Mbeumo or Enzo whilst giving enough money to upgrade Dorgu to Timber.

The most Complicated is if Saka is available and Arsenal win. Is it then worth 2 transfers when I could keep him and roll. I do still back the Arsenal defence more than him so I could just follow the above path anyway.

If Chelsea win… I will likely downgrade Saka to Enzo and either do Dorgu to Chalobah or do Verbruggen to Sanchez and still go Dorgu to Timber as per above.

The final transfer to consider is doing Thiago (Or Ekitike) to Joao Pedro. Now if Chelsea win I think this becomes easier. However, if Chelsea lose, then is it worth it for 3 weeks before I would then want Thiago back anyway.

So a lot to think about and it will all become clearer once the cup is out of the way!.

Finally a green arrow for me in GW24, and still have Le Fee left to play on Monday evening! For GW25, I have 1FT and £3.5m itb.

Saka and Le Fee are probably my two weakest players for GW25 and beyond, although if Saka were deemed fit for GW25, I probably would keep. Here are my four possible transfer options as of Monday morning.

  1. Le Fee Mbeumo/Wirtz/Cunha/Semenyo/Rogers/Sarr

  2. SakaPalmer/Mbeumo/Wirtz/Semenyo/Rogers/Rice

  3. Le Fee + SakaMbeumo + Rice/Wirtz/Rogers (-4)

  4. Saka + KroupiMbeumo + Joao Pedro (-4)

As of right now, I have exact funds for Le Fee to Mbeumo and that is the move I would like to make. But I cannot make the move yet without the EFL cup information and Saka’s injury update, so I may get priced out. I don’t mind taking a -4, and I do really like Option 4 to get JP.

I am also considering playing the bench boost, especially if I go for something like Option 1 or Option 3.

Lots to think about, but definitely expecting to making at least one transfer this week!

Well, selling Ekitike ended up a total disaster! The only sign of encouragement was Mbeumo getting 90+ mins, hopefully that continues though Sesko scored off the bench and Cunha scored too. I’ve got 1 free transfers which I’d penciled in to move Le Fee out, but if Saka is out for GW25 then it will have to be:

Saka → Rice

If Le Fee is fine then I’m looking at one of these options:

Le Fee → Anderson
Le Fee → Stach

I’ve got exact money for Anderson, whereas Stach leaves a bit to upgrade O’Reilly. Anderson’s a defcon beast, while Stach is fairly good for defcon he’s got 9 goal involvements which is insane for a nailed 4.8m mid. Bruno captain again!

Harry’s top 3 Captaincy choices this week!

  1. Fernandes vs TOT (H).

Bruno is yet to blank since Carrick has come in. A good fixture at home to Spurs who despite turn around against Manchester City have been poor defensively. The only concern is the 0.12 xG per 90 since his return and has failed a single shot in 2 of the last 3.

  2. Joao Pedro vs WOL (a).

Despite a benching against West Ham, Joao Pedro still managed a goal and an assist and looks our best and most potent attacker right now. A good fixture against Wolves.

  3. Gabriel vs SUN (H)

Arsenal defence seems to be back under lock, Gabriel is back getting chances and getting DEFCON. He feels a solid pick at home to Sunderland this week.

NO HAALAND! Maybe for the first time this season, coming from a boring manager like me that is something!

Bournemouth remain top of the fixture ticker for the next 6 weeks so Senesi, Evanilson and Kroupi will remain good picks. Crystal Palace join them although trying to find worthwhile picks with their current form and looming return of European fixtures feels difficult.

Chelsea remain great short term options but from Gameweek 28 onwards it does turn bad quite quickly so is it worth the short term potential gain? (probably!)

So no one should be making early transfers anyway because of the potential double. However, another reason is because today is the final day of the transfer window and who knows what could happen unpredicted that impacts our FPL teams.

So guys, there you have it! An important week ahead, one where making early transfers once again probably isn’t advisable, but a week where we will finally begin to get some clarity on the start of the blank and double gameweek season!
