FPL Wrapped - Our Gameweek 23 Teams

Here's our FPL Teams and Plans for Gameweek 23

Hello everyone! Another low scoring and underwhelming Gameweek, but we remain hopeful that GW23 will be a turning point, especially as we approach a transitional period in terms of fixtures, players, and team structure. Plenty to discuss, let’s jump into it!

Gameweek Fixtures

  1. Foden to Bruno this week?
If Foden is available he is a better pick than Bruno so I would wait.

  2. Best Defenders to buy?
Outside of the obvious of Arsenal, or maybe Chalobah, have a look at Collins or Senesi one of theses could rotate into your defence well.

  3. Are any forwards worth it?

Not really no! I do think Thiago and DCL will give constant enough returns but the advice would be to not make any forward transfers unless to free up funds.

  4. Do we sell Saka?

I would actually say no. I do not think he is worth the money and if you want to go Bruno or chance Palmer then fine but I do expect him to go back to starting consistently.

  5. Wildcard 23/24?
I still think that saving it until GW32 is the best play even if you need a -4 or 2 over the next few weeks but I know Ross disagrees! See below for his thoughts.

What a week… 33 on the bench with 25 in my team with 2 to play…

We move onto Gameweek 23 but feeling a bit battered around by this game currently!
The only player I feel I want is Bruno Fernandes who I should have just bought this week!

I have a couple of options, either I move from Foden, soon, as I have exact money in the blank or I wait for Gameweek 24 after Bruno plays Arsenal.

In Gameweek 24 I could do Saka to Bruno Fernandes or do Foden to Bruno with a 2nd transfer selling Ekitike or potentially Dorgu to a cheap defender like Rodon if we do not think Dorgu will keep playing.

I will be keeping an eye out for an update on Foden before deciding as ideally I would move straight from Foden to Bruno if Foden is a doubt.

Hello everyone! A long team section for me, prepare!

A few 8 pointers from Gabriel, Le Fee, and Hall in GW22 meant that it wasn’t too bad of a week for me, but yet again I am struggling to make any real progress with my rank.

I have 2 FTs and £0.3m itb ahead of Gameweek 23, and it feels a bit like the calm before the storm. GW24 is the point we have been anticipating for a while as a time where we will either use mutliple FTs, or potentially even play the early wildcard.

For me right now, I am really happy with my defence. Timber and Gabriel in place, Hall has been very solid and has some OK fixtures coming up, and Andersen and Rodon offer decent value. In the forward line, Haaland will not be sold, despite his recent performances, and Thiago is a fine hold. Ekitike can be downgraded soon to fund other moves.

But the midfield… oh boy that midfield… it looks fine for this week with Le Fee and Garner having decent fixtures, but long-term it absolutely stinks. I think my ideal midfield 5 right now would be:

Rice, Bruno, Enzo, Tavernier, Rogers/Mbeumo. I do not have any of those 6 players, so I really feel like I almost need 5 free transfers to sort out my midfield alone, and would need to sell Ekitike to fund that (6 FTs). So the question is, do I just prioritise, use my FTs as they come and hang on, or play an early and aggressive wildcard in GW24?

Here is a rough wildcard 24 draft so that you can see the changes:

Anyway, for GW23 I do think the best plan is to roll the transfer, whether I think I will wildcard in GW24 or not. That would leave me with 3 FTs and a bit more flexibility in GW24, and if I do wildcard, I would still have those 3 FTs from GW25 onwards.

The only small spanner in the works is that Foden was seen leaving the ground with heavy strapping on his hand, and I am not sure he starts anyway. So, I could start him and hope, bench him, or I guess make a transfer, but that doesn’t feel ideal the week before a wildcard.

Plenty to think about, will update you on my videos later this week and in the premium wrapped newsletter on Thursday!

A small green last gameweek massively carried by my differentials Le Fee and Mukiele. Very disappointing to come away with 6 points between Van Dijk, Gakpo and Ekitike home to Burnley. GW24 is a pivotal upcoming week, so this week it’s a straight forward roll unless there’s any leaks that one of my players don’t such (such as Gakpo or Foden), in which I’ll sell them for Enzo.

Harry’s top 3 Captaincy choices this week!

  1. Haaland vs WOL (H)

Unfortunately despite recent blanks Haaland will remain the number 1 captain with it being difficult to back against him this week due to a lack of good alternatives. Man City are creating less chances, Haaland looks tired and Wolves are improving but I do not see anyone else stand out.

  2. Thiago vs NFO (H)

Now Brentford can be hit and miss especially Thiago. However, a home fixture, with Dango back could be an interesting alternative to Haaland.

  3. Saka vs MUN (H)

Now Arsenal and Saka have not been great in front of goal recently and Saka’s minutes have been slightly unpredictable. However, we do expect him to start again and he did have chance vs Nottingham Forest and we are not far away from Gyokeres being dropped giving Saka full penalty share.
