Here's our FPL Teams for next gameweek
Gameweek 1 was very underwhelming, but Gameweek 2 could be the week! Well, it could also be underwhelming too, but we would rather be positive. Let’s do this.

So with an underwhelming 55 points in Gameweek 1 it might seem like time to panic and move some players around to try and improve things. However, that is not the plan. The idea this week for me is to roll the transfer unless anything unexpected arrives during the press conferences later in the week.
However, this does not mean I do not have decisions to make. Defensively I could start any of my 5 defenders. Currently Agbadou and Andersen are on the bench but both of these are predicted to have a reasonably high chance of getting DEFCON compared to any of my starting defenders. However, I do expect Porro to play RWB for Tottenham vs Manchester City, Esteve against Sunderland and then Williams against a Crystal Palace team who may be without Eze if he moves and play in Europe on Thursday night.
The final decision is around captaincy and its Friday night Palmer vs Monday night Salah. I do prefer the fixture for Palmer but as a Chelsea fan I have serious concerns that Maresca will continue to play him on the left where he is much less comfortable and the output is worse. So as a result Salah has the armband in what is likely to be a heated match against Newcastle with all the ongoing Isak drama.
Good luck everyone!

As boring as it is, and as much as there are certainly moves that I am considering, I just don’t have enough information to make them with conviction. A lot of my transfers also involve re-distributing funds, for which I would like 2-3 free transfers.
An example of a move I would like to make is one of Wirtz, Bruno, or Palmer down to someone like Semenyo, or even Cunha, and then upgrade Füllkrug to Evanilson, or upgrade Guiu to Strand Larsen. Regardless of the future move, it just isn’t feasible with one free transfer.
Really for me the only decision I am debating this week is who to start and bench in my defence. Sanchez vs. Esteve is very close, but I rate Chelsea slightly more defensively, as shown further down our newsletter, Chelsea have a 34% chance of a clean sheet vs. 32% for Burnley.
Defensively, I think Esteve (32% chance of a clean sheet) and Richards (31% chance) are locks, really I am debating Porro vs. Williams for the final spot. Given Eze will not be in the squad at the weekend as he completes his move to Arsenal, I am inclined to give Williams the nod.
Captaincy is only between Salah and Palmer for me, and I have not seen enough from Palmer to convince me, so I am 90% sure it’ll be Salah with the armband on Monday night.
Good luck for Gameweek 2!

60 points in Gameweek 1 after a suspicious late bonus recalculation which saw Sanchez move up to 1 bonus point… not complaining! Narrowly beat Harry and Ross, just need to do that 37 more times… There were 615,000 chips activated in Gameweek 1, so I’m even more tolerant of a slow start this season. I have to remind myself that around GW7 last season I believe I was ranked something like 2.7m and still finished inside the elusive Top 10K so it’s slow and steady here. It will take even longer for things to shake out given the extra chips this season, I’ve not planned for any particular week to use mine yet honestly. The only thing I’m sure on at this stage if triple captaining a premium against one of the newly promoted teams, Salah has SUN (H) before he goes AFCON in GW14. I imagine many will be tempted in GW3 even for BUR (A) but my instinct is back an Anfield fixture if it’s to be Salah. I can see a world where I own Haaland in GW6 for BUR (H), BRE (A), EVE (H) and that would also present an incredible TC opportunity on Haaland for the Burnley fixture at the Etihad.
Anyway, chip ramble aside I’m pleased with the team picked overall, I’ve got a choice to make between double Burnley defence with Dubravka or hedge and Sanchez and I’m going the latter way. Captaincy feels tricky this week given how well Newcastle defender in GW1, who Salah faces next while Palmer blanked but has West Ham who just let 3 in past Sunderland! Palmer has never blanked against West Ham (2G 1A in 3 games).
Good luck this week and thanks for reading my segment!

Harry’s top 3 captaincy choices for Gameweek 2!
Saka vs. LEE (H)
The standout fixture this week has to be Arsenal at home to Leeds. Now with the Havertz injury I was tempted to put Gyokeres here and I do think he is a strong captain but his minutes and performance in Gameweek 1 was enough to put me off. Saka has been a reliable FPL option for many years now and a great fixture to go with it if you are lucky enough to own him.Haaland vs. TOT (H)
Manchester City looked like they were returning back to their old ways of creating chances for Haaland and Haaland only. Now we know Haaland tends to start the season strong but does face a Tottenham side who we expect to see improved defensive performances from this season compared to last. However, overall, it is hard to look past a Haaland and Manchester City team who look fit and firing.Salah vs. NEW (A)
3rd is Salah going up against a Newcastle team who may well be hungry given the Isak saga and this being their first home game of the season to voice those concerns. However, Salah has not blanked in his last 6 meetings with Newcastle dating back to 2022 with 11 returns in that time and 3/6 being double returns. Mr FPL reliable is always a good option if you are unsure.
The key omission here is Palmer vs WHU (A). As a Chelsea fan I am too concerned that Maresca will play him in the same position again on the left where he is much less effective and that is enough to put me off captaining him, plus he is the Friday night captain!

Esteve was asked in an interview what he thinks of his extremely high ownership in FPL, to which he said “What is the game?”
The man could become an instant legend with a clean sheet this week. If only you knew, Esteve…

In a week where patience is being touted as the only approach, there could be some gains to be had with a slightly more aggressive strategy. That being said, we still have very limited information, so a balance must be had. Unless you feel confident in a move, we advise you probably wait and collect more information. Good luck!
