5 Free Transfers! How Many Should We Use?
Hello everyone! The week we have all been waiting for - we all now have 5 free transfers to use ahead of Gameweek 16. Importantly, you don’t have to use them all this week, but make sure to use at least one of them, as you cannot accumulate more than five in one go, so you would essentially be burning one if you don’t! We have already used a combined 5 free transfers between us, so let’s jump into it!

How many transfers to use?
As many as you need! However, if you are using a lot this week then I would look to be rolling in 17 and 18 to build some back up.
Is Mateta out too obvious?
Reduced minutes and missed chances mean yes I think he is a sensible sell.
Any other forwards?
I would look at Joao Pedro with Delap out, Raul Jimenez or Barry as potential alternatives.
Is Foden essential?
Not essential but when he is on great form he tends to rise a wave. I would get him in if you can.
Sell Van Dijk?
If it is for an arsenal defender like Timber then yes. However, other popular defenders to buy have difficult fixtures this week so it could wait until after Wolves in 18.

1 Transfer confirmed. Mateta to Thiago. Enough is enough with Mateta’s early subs and missing chances. Thiago has great upcoming fixtures.
Outside of that the two players I have the most issue with is Enzo and Van Dijk. Two players worth too much for what they are producing. However, my Van Dijk replacement is likely to be another Crystal Palace defender but they play Manchester City this week. Or even O’Reilly but they go away to Crystal Palace which again is not worth a transfer this week.
Then in terms of Enzo replacements. I have considered a short term punt on Harry Wilson with Burnley, Nottingham Forest and West Ham in the next 3 weeks. Outside of that Minteh and Bruno G are the two I am considering but Minteh travels to Liverpool and Bruno G travels to Sunderland. These are not the worst fixtures but I am not certain it’s worth forcing a transfer through.
So as a result the plan is to roll the other 4 moves to next week.

Hello everyone! As per Harry (and pretty much everyone else) I made an early move of Mateta to Thiago ahead of the double price change on Saturday evening. That means 1 of the 5 free transfers used, and £1.0m itb.
Regarding my other 4 free transfers, I certainly don’t plan on using them all, despite my team probably needing them. I think there is a fine balance between being aggressive and favouring points over future flexibility, but I also think going into GW17 with 1 free transfer would be unwise. I therefore plan on using somewhere between 1-3 of the total 5 free transfers.
The 3 players that probably need to be sold over the coming gameweeks are Pope, Ndiaye, and Enzo. I also wouldn’t mind making a defender transfer, and it would probably be Senesi that would make way. Here are the players on my watchlist (the underlined players below are the ones I like the most):
Goalkeepers: Verbruggen, Kelleher, Sels, Pickford
Defenders: Van den Berg, Van Hecke, Thiaw, O’Reilly, Tarkowski, Munoz
Midfielders: KDH, Wilson, Anderson, Szoboszlai, Bruno G, Rogers, Rice, Gordon, Semenyo, Cunha, Palmer.
Lots and lots of options. As of right now, I think Ndiaye is the most likely next transfer out, and I think Rice or Wilson are most likely to come in for me. Rice is the top scoring midfielder, objectively a good option. Wilson is very cheap which isn’t really necessary for me, but also has been playing very well and has a great run of fixtures over the next few gameweeks.

So, I’m all out of chips now for the first half of the season. The free hit was a weird one - it scored poor though I just worked it out and I'm actually 16 points up where I would've been. Newcastle conceding a penalty in stoppage time to 10 man Burnley was so painful. My only return would've been Saka's assist. So I need to try to look at it in comparison to my team before rather than the arrow (currently red with Bruno and Mbeumo left to play).
I’ve gone early on 3 transfers after the top up to 5. Not my style usually but I had exact money and all 3 moves made perfect sense to me:
Mateta → Marc Guiu
Enzo → Foden
Truffert → J.Timber
I like Hincapie as a short term pick too, but he’ll need selling in about 4 gameweeks so I decided on Timber, and hopefully for the premium price tag he can chip in with a goal involvement here and there. My bench is a bit light now, though my defence overall has a good run of games collectively so I might just about manage. Perhaps Van Dijk is where I can free up some money, though I still like Liverpool’s fixtures including WOL (H) and LEE (H) in GW18 and GW19. I’m curious to see how this situation with Slot vs Salah and Liverpool’s form shakes out.

Harry’s top 3 Captaincy choices this week!
Haaland vs CRY (a)
A few weeks recently people have gone against Haaland and it has not worked. He will still be the most likely to score this week when the odds come out.
Saka vs WOL (H)
Now keep an eye on minutes midweek for Saka but if you are looking to go against Haaland then picking the player playing against Wolves is probably the best place to go. A home fixture with Saka on set pieces and on penalties is the best alternative.
Thiago vs Lee (H)
Outside of Haaland and Saka everyone will have very low captaincy. After a blank last week Thiago should be on radar at home to Leeds who have been better at home than on the road so far this season.

Next 6 fixtures ranked by difficulty

Marcos Senesi went off in GW15 in the 62nd minute without what looked like a quadricep injury and was seen with strapping at the end of the game. However, after the game Iraola said that Senesi was feeling cramps, and that he is hopeful that is all that it is, but they will assess him to see if there is not a small injury there.
Muñoz missed out in GW15, with Glasner reporting that he is nursing a minor knee injury. He said: “We were managing his knee now for a few weeks and it was yesterday, we decided it was too risky. We never take any risks, so it made sense to give him a break. We are hopeful he will be available, maybe not for Shelbourne [Thursday], but hopefully Manchester City [Sunday]. We have to wait a few days because his knee has a bit of swelling, see how that settles down and then take a decision.” Note, Muñoz is on 4 yellow cards so maybe an avoid given the fixture, yellow cards, and injury situation.
Schade picked up his 5th yellow card at the weekend and will be suspended for GW16. Dango Ouattara will go to AFCON ahead of GW17. Both players are unfortunately avoids despite the beginning of a nice fixture run.
Speaking of AFCON, we are still expecting 15th December to be the date that Premier League players are leaving their clubs to go to AFCON. Note, Man Utd play on 15th December, but Mbeumo is still expected to be available for the Bournemouth at home game if you wanted to keep for one more game.

A crucial Monday night football ahead of this week’s winner with 16 points all out, or 17 with Mukiele off the bench for Munoz. Bruno and Mbeumo left to play.

Good luck if you’ve got anyone involved in the Monday night game Wolves vs Man Utd. We’ll be back on Thursday with FPL Wrapped Premium, sign up below if you’d like to try it out. 🤝
