FPL Wrapped - Our Gameweek 13 Teams

Hello everyone! In this edition of FPL Wrapped, we will be discussing our teams and plans, and considering the use of the free hit chip as well. Plenty to discuss, so let’s jump into it!

1. Is Saka worth the money?

   I have gone back and forth with this for a long time whilst also buying him. I think he is a great option right now and the most nailed Arsenal attacker outside of Rice so having that is valuable enough.

2. Avoid Liverpool?

   I wish I never bought Van Dijk! If I was going again I would own 0 Liverpool.

3. Any differentials to consider?

   Nottingham Forest are right up there for me. Sels, Murillo, Williams and Anderson are great picks with the upcoming fixtures.

4. When is the best week to Triple Captain
   I think Gameweek 17 is marginally better than 13 and 15 for Haaland particularly due to expected rest times before and after this game. All are great though.
   

5. Free Hit 13 or 16 or other?
   This of course is very team dependent. I think 13 is the best chance to back against Arsenal if that is what you want to do. However, 16 also looks good with some great fixtures.
   

First of all let’s set the record straight. I regret buying Van Dijk over buying Timber. There, I said it!

Now on to Gameweek 13. The choice is Triple Captain or Free Hit. Triple Captain can be played in Gameweek 13, 15 and 17 on Haaland vs Leeds, Sunderland or West Ham all at home. I think 17 is personally best especially as Diouf and Wan-Bissaka will both be going to AFCON by then we think.

Free Hit for me does not look great in any of the other possible weeks apart from this one unless there is a postponement to a game that is relevant to my team.

I do think I will look to Free Hit this week and gamble against Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Bournemouth.

I will be looking at Brentford, Aston Villa, Manchester City whilst also considering Liverpool and Nottingham Forest.

Much like Harry, my major decision for GW13 is whether or not to free hit. It is difficult with the additional free hit chip, as there probably isn’t going to be a week where your team “needs” the free hit chip. As a result, there will always be the fear that your original team massively outscores your free hit team, which is always a possibility. I see 3 ways to potentially play it:

1. Use the free hit to make a few small changes to your team. Usually, you’d change all 11 players, maybe with this one we just change the 4-5 weakest players and keep the main base the same?

2. Keep the free hit in the back pocket in case you have a week where it all goes horribly wrong, and if it doesn’t, just use it GW17-GW19.

3. Absolutely commit to the free hit, change lots of players, attack the fixtures, and hope it outscores your original team.

I genuinely am really on the fence. If I look at my team for GW13, the only player I really ideally would not play is Enzo. Players like Semenyo, Mateta, Richards, Senesi, Saka are absolutely fine for this week, but I don’t know that I’d have any of them in a free hit team.

If I decide to free hit, I will post it in Thursday’s premium FPL Wrapped newsletter and on YouTube. If I decide not to free hit, I have the possibility of selling Ndiaye or Sarr to Bruno. This would be with AFCON in mind, basically bringing a transfer forward. I could also very easily roll the transfer.

A decent week thanks for Munoz, Enzo and Andersen with double digit returns! Haaland captain blank was a disappointment though it was him or Saka so only a couple points dropped. Not a good start to owning Van Dijk who was my Gabriel replacement - though again only a couple points dropped if I try to look at it positively! It was Virgil or Timber that would come in.

I ultimately opted for Virgil because of the £0.4m freed up, which gives me a little more flexibility, for example Rodon/Mukiele to a £4.5m defender. I might not do that at all but I liked the option.

So in terms of GW13 I’ve got that option - I could sell Rodon for Van den Berg to target BUR (H), but it doesn’t seem like a significant enough upgrade to spend a transfer, so my plan is to roll. I’m eyeing up FH14 due to how the fixtures land unfavourably for a few players in my team, if I do that I’ll have to spend 2 FTs in GW15 before we’re topped up to 5, or I’ll pivot to FH16.

There’s a lot midweek games on in Europe before Gameweek 13 so the general advice is to wait before making any moves! 9 teams are involved before next gameweek. 👇
