Gameweek 10 Fixtures

Would you captain someone other than Haaland this week?

Captaincy is somewhat up in the air this week for the first time in a little while, with Haaland coming off the back of a blank, playing against a decent Bournemouth team, and Arsenal playing against the worst defence in the Premier League. The short answer is yes, it’s one of the better weeks to back against Haaland, if you are looking to do so.

As per Oscar’s graphics below, Arsenal have a 55% chance of keeping a clean sheet this weekend, and are projected to score more goals than Manchester City. Both Gabriel (DEFCON, bps, clean sheet, goal threat) and Saka (penalties, set pieces, assist and goal threat, clean sheet point) have multiple routes to points too.

But Haaland is still exceptional, and you have to expect him to get chances to return in every game, especially at home.

Objectively, the ranking is probably Haaland, Saka, Gabriel, as per Harry’s graphic. But the gap between 1st and 3rd this week is not very large at all. You could even take a slightly rogue punt on someone like Woltemade.

I did have 3 FT but I used one to go from Joao Pedro to Mateta on Sunday before the price change.

Right now the plan is to not only roll for the rest of Gameweek 10 but also roll in Gameweek 11 as well… Giving Gyokeres 2 more weeks… Sadly…

Now this week as long as one of Andersen and Richards is available I can have Rodon auto sub in for the other one. If both of them are out I would consider something like Andersen to Mukiele but I do not really want to be left with 2x £4.1m defenders going forward so even if both are out I think I will just roll.

The reason I plan to roll in Gameweek 11 is firstly because Gameweek 11 is the final week before an international break so taking 4 transfers into this would be great! The next is we may not know what is happening with the GW17 potential blank (more info at the bottom of this newsletter) until the international break. The final reason is Gameweek 11 sees Manchester City play Liverpool and Spurs play Manchester United, four teams I like the idea of investing more in potentially all with a difficult fixture that week.

Hello everyone! Nice and short from me today as I have already made my moves on Sunday night:

Tarkowski, Reijnders, Joao PedroRichards, Sarr, Mateta

Now, I just have to wait for the injury updates on Richards and Andersen, and decide on captaincy. I do quite fancy both Gabriel and Saka to do well this week, but backing against Haaland is always a scary prospect. I may just view owning Saka as enough, and still captain the Norwegian.

If Andersen, Richards and another player were to be out, and I didn’t expect Stach to start, there is a small chance I would need to sell him to Xhaka, but I am hopeful my bench can cover me this week and that Richards and Andersen injuries are not long-term.

Good luck everyone!

Two early transfers made! I had 4 free transfers and not too many players involved midweek due to League Cup rather than Champions League, so I decided to move early to get ahead of price changes. Mateta and Munoz come in for Joao Pedro and Senesi. I had to move early if I want to buy Saka back as well, otherwise it could be very tight for money.

It was a difficult decision to sell Senesi because he’s been fantastic, I just wanted Munoz even more basically. I was late to the Senesi train as well so I only made 0.1m profit, and if I do buy back in GW12/13 then I’ll only lose 0.1m in doing so.

The potential route to Saka would be Gyokeres to Thiago and then Ndiaye/Enzo to Saka (plus downgrade Stach to 4.5m) OR Gyokeres to Guiu, Stach to Saka and then Ndiaye/Enzo to Minteh. However, it’s also possible I skip Saka and go for someone like Mbeumo who I could pair with VVD from GW12 when the fixtures are fantastic (as bad as Liverpool have been lately those fixtures are hard to resist).

Harry’s top 3 Captaincy choices this week!

  1. Haaland vs BOU (H)
Despite a blank last week and now a difficult fixture against Bournemouth Haaland keeps spot one. Scoring an offside goal against Aston Villa he was just fractions away from another 8+ pointer which feels like his base right now. I find it hard to see anyone I like more.

  2. Saka vs BUR (a)
Of all the Arsenal attackers Saka has the best all round routes to points. Even small things such as the clean sheet point, taking set pieces and potentially being on penalties he feels the best differential away from Haaland.

  3. Gabriel vs BUR (a)
Can you captain a defender… Normally no but when he has not blanked for 4 weeks and has averaged 11 points per match in that time and now goes up against arguably the worst team in the league, it has to be considered.

Let us talk about the POTENTIAL for a double and blank Gameweek now that Crystal Palace are through to the next round of the Cup.

The Quarter Final of the Cup clashes with the midweek that is being used for the Conference League but no other European competition hence it only impacts Crystal Palace.

As a result, there will be two potential scenarios.

  1. Crystal Palace are forced to play Sunday (GW16), Tuesday in the Cup, Thursday in Europe before Sunday (GW17). 4 matches in 8 days. Now they could simply just rotate very heavily in their conference league match given they will likely qualify easily anyway.

  2. Or a fixture gets moved, or should I say 3 fixtures. The other solution is that Crystal Palace vs Arsenal in the Cup gets moved to the Gameweek 17 weekend resulting in EVE vs ARS and LEE vs CRY needing to be rearranged. (4 teams potentially blank). Now Everton vs Arsenal could be played in the Gameweek 16 midweek whilst the Leeds vs Crystal Palace game would likely go to 2026.

The general consensus is it is about a 25% chance of option 2 and 75% of option 1.

The graphic below displays what that potential double could look like!

Disaster of the week finished with 27 points, no returns besides from defcon and a save point.

That is all from us this week! There have been early transfers, talking of captaining defenders and our first thoughts of double and blank Gameweeks! What a crazy FPL world it is right now! Good luck in Gameweek 10 everyone and see you next week.
